Adrien Nicholas Brody was born April 14, 1973, and grew up in Woodhaven, Queens, New York. He is the only child of Sylvia Plachy (a well-respected and accomplished photographer) and Elliot Brody (a history professor and fine artist).
Adrien is an actor, producer (of both films and music), director, composer (and "beat maker") and artist (painter). He also models on occasion and performs magic. The phrase "multi-talented" is tossed around too freely at times, but it definitely applies to Brody.
As an actor, he is arguably best known for his Academy Award-winning performance in The Pianist. He is the youngest Best Actor Oscar winner (he was 29 at the time) and was the first American to win a Cesar for Best Actor in France (also for The Pianist).
Brody also gained attention for his work in Peter Jackson's blockbuster King Kong remake, as an unexpected action hero in Predators, his wonderful roles in Wes Anderson films, and his scene-stealing cameo as artist Salvador Dali in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris.
